
Bhubaneswar: The Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) events at the Junior & Senior Artistic Gymnastics National Championships 2026–27 got off to a strong start, with an intense Junior Team Final showcasing emerging talent from across the country at the Kalinga Stadium.
West Bengal delivered a dominant performance to secure the gold medal with a score of 172.433, displaying remarkable consistency and technical precision across all apparatus. Maharashtra followed with a solid showing to claim silver at 160.164, while Tripura completed the podium with bronze, scoring 155.166.
The competition witnessed participation from a wide range of states, including Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Punjab, Jharkhand, Telangana, Haryana, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Delhi, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and host state Odisha, underlining the growing depth of women’s gymnastics in India. The Odisha team also put up a determined performance, gaining valuable exposure against some of the country’s top contenders.
The event was conducted under the supervision of Kalpana Debnath, President of the Women’s Technical Committee of the Gymnastics Federation of India, along with Competition Manager Ashok Kumar Mishra, ensuring smooth conduct in line with national standards.
The opening day highlighted both competitive excellence and rising talent, setting the stage for the remaining events in the championship. The competition will continue over the coming days with more contests across junior and senior categories.
