WAG Finals Conclude National Gymnastics Championships in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) events at the Junior & Senior Artistic Gymnastics National Championships 2026–27 concluded with high-energy apparatus finals at the Gymnastics High Performance Centre, Kalinga Stadium, bringing the prestigious national championship to a close.

In the senior category, Niranjana Punia of Haryana clinched gold in the balance beam event, while Anoushka Patil (Maharashtra) and Priyanshi Bansal (Odisha) secured silver and bronze respectively. The floor exercise saw Karishma of the Railways Sports Promotion Board take the top spot, followed by Ashmi Debnath (West Bengal) and Eshitaa Rewale (Maharashtra).

In the vault event, Eshitaa Rewale added a gold medal to her tally, while Piyasa Kundu (RSPB) and Soumili Karar (West Bengal) completed the podium. Odisha’s Tannu delivered a standout performance to win gold in uneven bars, with Diya Thakore (Gujarat) and Amani Dilshad (Kerala) finishing second and third.

In the junior category, Anusua Howlader (West Bengal) secured gold in balance beam, while Shreyanshi Roy (Tripura) and Shreya Ghosh (West Bengal) followed. The floor exercise saw Sreeparna Debnath (Tripura) claim gold, ahead of Shreyanshi Roy and Dhanishtha Ugalmugle (Maharashtra).

Vaishnavi Vyas (Telangana) topped the vault event, while Paromita Bera of West Bengal continued her strong run by winning gold in uneven bars. Silver and bronze medals in these events were secured by Abhidha Singh Dev (Uttar Pradesh) and Sakshi Dalvi (Maharashtra), respectively.

The final day was attended by several dignitaries, including Sports and Youth Services Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, Member of Parliament Sambit Patra, Olympian Dipa Karmakar, and Dronacharya awardee Bishweshwar Nandi, among others.

With the conclusion of the WAG events, the national championship drew to a close, highlighting the rising standards and depth of gymnastics talent in India.
