Vice-President Urges Corporate Leaders to Support Educational Institutions, Especially for Girls

New Delhi: The Vice-President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, has called upon corporate and industry leaders to generously support educational institutions, with a special emphasis on those catering to girls’ education. Speaking at the Centenary Celebrations of Indraprastha College for Women, he appealed for contributions from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to boost educational institutions, expressing his willingness to engage with the industry on this matter.

Addressing the students, Shri Dhankhar highlighted the significant role students play as the greatest stakeholders in democracy. He urged the girls present to be aspirational, emphasizing that an ecosystem has been created to fully harness their talent and realize their potential. Encouraging them to think big and pursue their aspirations, he stated, “It is time for you to think big, time for you to think the way you want to think.”

The Vice-President recognized the impact of effective governance on women empowerment, enabling girls to be principal participants in the country’s journey towards Bharat@2047. He expressed confidence that the girls would lead the nation to become a developed country, reaching new heights among the comity of nations.

Describing education as the most impactful transformation mechanism, Shri Dhankhar emphasized its role in bringing equality to society. He declared that “girl education is a revolution, girl education is changing an epoch.”

Highlighting the current era as a time of hope and immense possibilities, he noted that India is already a global economy and a favored destination for investment and opportunities. He encouraged students to embrace failure as a stepping stone to growth and innovation, stating that the fear of failure hinders progress.

Referring to recent initiatives like ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ and ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao,’ as well as the distribution of LPG connections, Shri Dhankhar emphasized the defining role of girls in shaping India’s growth in the 21st century.

The Vice-President urged students to take pride in being Indians, respect Bharat, and believe in the phenomenal rise of the nation. He emphasized the need to follow economic nationalism, practice the idea of ‘Swadeshi,’ and be ‘Vocal for Local.’

The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Prof. Yogesh Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University, Shri Alok B Shriram, Chairperson of the Governing Body, College, faculty members, and students.
