Vice-President Hails Arunachal Pradesh’s Ecological Stewardship on Statehood Day

Itanagar: In a commendation of Arunachal Pradesh’s commitment to environmental preservation, the Vice-President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, urged citizens across the nation to emulate the state’s approach towards ecological conservation. During the 38th Statehood Day celebrations in Itanagar on his maiden visit to the state, the Vice-President hailed Arunachal Pradesh as a “microcosm of Bharat” and lauded the people’s coexistence with nature, terming it an exemplary way of life.

Highlighting the breathtaking beauty of Arunachal Pradesh, characterized by its pristine landscapes, misty mountains, and lush forests, Dhankhar commended the state as a haven for tourists. He praised the organic produce of Arunachal Pradesh for its credibility and authenticity, envisioning the expansion of its reach through government schemes and tapping into national and international markets.

Referring to the eight northeastern states as the “Ashta Lakshmis” or jewels of India, the Vice-President emphasized that India’s cultural fabric remains incomplete without the North Eastern region. He acknowledged the significant progress in infrastructure and connectivity in the region, attributing it to the changing face of Bharat and the spirit of cooperative federalism.

Tracing India’s economic journey from being one of the ‘Fragile Five’ to becoming one of the ‘Top Five,’ Dhankhar highlighted the nation’s rising stature globally. He noted India’s leadership in the G20 and the G20 Research and Innovation Initiative Gathering held in Itanagar during India’s presidency, showcasing Arunachal Pradesh’s potential to the world.

Commending individuals from Arunachal Pradesh honored with Padma Awards, the Vice-President emphasized that talent is being recognized in the present ecosystem without patronage or nepotism. He urged the youth to embrace their role as foot soldiers on the march towards taking India to the status of “Viksit Bharat@2047.”

The Statehood Day celebration in Itanagar saw the presence of dignitaries including Governor Lt Gen Kaiwalya Trivikram Parnaik (Retd.), Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, and other notable figures.
