Veteran Journalist Vinod Dua is No More

New Delhi: Veteran journalist, anchor, election analyst, food reviewer, political commentator, Vinod Dua passed away after a prolonged illness following a COVID infection on Saturday evening. He was 67.

His health condition deteriorated last week and was moved to the Intensive Care Unit of Apollo Hospital in Delhi.

A pioneer in Hindi journalism, Vinod Dua worked with Doordarshan and NDTV for a longer period. He started his anchoring career in 1984 with ‘Aap Ke Liye‘ which was telecasted on Doordarshan. He switched to new media and continued with his fearless journalism. With his political commentary in web shows for digital media The Wire and HW News, he talked about various issues.

He was bestowed with the fourth highest civilian award of the country, the Padma Shri in 2008 for his contributions in the field of Journalism.

His daughter Mallika Dua shared a post on social media. “Our irreverent, fearless and extraordinary father, Vinod Dua has passed away. He lived an inimitable life, rising from the refugee colonies of Delhi to the peak of journalistic excellence for over 42 years, always, always speaking truth to power. He is now with our mom, his beloved wife Chinna in heaven where they will continue to sing, cook, travel, and drive each other up the wall,” she wrote.

Following Covid infection he and his wife radiologist Padmavati Dua were hospitalised in Gurugram during the second wave earlier this year. While his wife passed away in June, Vinod Dua has been struggling with multiple health issues post Covid.
