UP Yoddhas Gear Up for Pro Kabaddi League Clash Against Gujarat Giants

Panchkula: In an eagerly anticipated face-off, UP Yoddhas, the GMR Group-owned franchise, is set to take on Gujarat Giants in the reverse fixture of Pro Kabaddi League Season 10. The match is scheduled to unfold at the Tau Devilal Indoor Stadium tomorrow.

Having faced a setback earlier in the season against the Giants with a scoreline of 30-38, the Yoddhas are determined to reverse their fortunes and secure a victory this time. In their recent encounter, the Yoddhas suffered a defeat at the hands of defending champions Jaipur Pink Panthers, ending with a scoreline of 30-67. Currently positioned 11th in the league table with 29 points and a score difference of -107, the Yoddhas are keen to bounce back.

On the contrary, Gujarat Giants are riding high after securing a playoff spot by defeating Bengaluru Bulls 50-28. Positioned fifth in the league table with 65 points and a score difference of 34, the Giants enter the clash with confidence.

The match is set to be broadcasted live on Star Sports Network and can be streamed on Disney Hotstar on 17th February 2024, starting at 09:00 p.m. (IST).

Throughout the history of the Pro Kabaddi League, UP Yoddhas and Gujarat Giants have crossed paths ten times. The Yoddhas have emerged victorious twice, while two encounters ended in a tie.

Speaking ahead of the clash, UP Yoddhas Head Coach Jasvir Singh acknowledged the challenges faced this season due to injuries but praised the positive character displayed by the young players in recent games. Singh expressed gratitude to the loyal fanbase and emphasized the team’s determination to finish the season with a couple of victories.

In the absence of senior raiders like Pardeep Narwal and Surender Gill, the young trio of Gagana Gowda, Anil Kumar, and Mahipal have taken on raiding responsibilities. The defensive strength of the Yoddhas lies in Sumit, who has earned 60 tackle points, supported by Hitesh and Ashu Singh.

For the Giants, raiders Rakesh and Parteek Dahiya, along with Captain Fazel Atrachali leading the defense, will be key players in the upcoming clash. With Fazel Atrachali assisted by Sombir and Deepak Singh, the Giants aim for a strong performance against the Yoddhas.
