Union Power Minister Launches ₹1000-Crore ADEETIE Scheme to Accelerate Energy Efficiency in MSMEs

Panipat, Haryana: In a significant step towards promoting sustainable industrial growth and a low-carbon economy, the Assistance in Deploying Energy Efficient Technologies in Industries & Establishments (ADEETIE) scheme was officially launched today by Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, at a national roll-out event held at Arya (P.G.) College, Panipat.

The landmark initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Power and implemented by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), is aimed at enabling Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to adopt modern, energy-efficient technologies through comprehensive financial and technical assistance. With a budgetary outlay of ₹1000 crore, ADEETIE is poised to catalyze India’s shift towards greener, more sustainable industrial practices.

As part of the formal launch, Manohar Lal inaugurated the ADEETIE online portal (adeetie.beeindia.gov.in) and unveiled the Scheme Brochure, marking the operational commencement of this national programme. In his keynote address, the Minister emphasized that power is the backbone of economic development, and energy efficiency, along with renewables, plays a pivotal role in the journey towards Viksit Bharat.

“ADEETIE is not just a scheme—it’s a transformative movement to empower Indian industries, particularly MSMEs, to become globally competitive through sustainability,” Manohar Lal said. “With the right mix of incentives and support mechanisms, we are catalyzing investments in cleaner, more efficient technologies that will help reduce energy consumption by up to 50% in some cases.”

The scheme provides interest subvention of 5% for Micro and Small Enterprises, and 3% for Medium Enterprises, making loans for energy efficiency projects more accessible and affordable. Additionally, it includes support for Investment Grade Energy Audits (IGEA), Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), and Monitoring and Verification (M&V) post-implementation to ensure results and accountability.

Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Power, highlighted the scheme’s goal to reach 14 energy-intensive sectors and 60 identified industrial clusters in its initial phase. He praised BEE’s leadership in mainstreaming energy efficiency and emphasized the need for a strong policy and financial framework to empower MSMEs as key agents of India’s climate action.

A.K. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Energy), Government of Haryana, called on MSMEs to seize the opportunity provided by ADEETIE to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and move toward cleaner and more sustainable energy use.

Akash Tripathi, Additional Secretary and Director General of BEE, provided a detailed financial overview of the scheme, noting that ₹875 crore is earmarked for interest subvention, ₹50 crore for energy audits, and ₹75 crore for implementation support. He said the scheme is expected to mobilize ₹9000 crore in total investments, with ₹6750 crore projected from MSME lending.

As India’s industries increasingly cater to global markets, energy efficiency will become central to enhancing productivity, reducing emissions, and boosting export competitiveness, Tripathi added.

The launch event was also graced by Krishna Lal Panwar, Cabinet Minister for Panchayats & Development and Mines & Geology, Government of Haryana, and Priyanka Soni, Director, Department of New & Renewable Energy, Government of Haryana. Several MoUs were signed with major industrial associations, and appreciation certificates were distributed to MSMEs that participated in the scheme’s pilot phase. Two MSME representatives shared their success stories from adopting energy-efficient technologies, highlighting real-world benefits and early momentum.
