Union Minister Parshottam Rupala Engages with Fishing Community, Inaugurates Paradip Fishing Harbour Upgrade

Paradip: Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Shri Parshottam Rupala, actively engaged with fishermen and fisherwomen at the Paradip Fishing Harbour, Jagatsinghpur District, Odisha, during the ongoing Sagar Parikrama Yatra Phase XI. The minister, eager to understand the challenges faced by the fishing community, interacted with beneficiaries and felicitated them with essential documents, including Kisan Credit Cards (KCC), Certificates/Sanction Orders, and subsidies for brackish water ponds. Additionally, cheques were distributed to beneficiaries under the GAIS (Gramin Agricultural Markets) scheme.

In a significant move towards modernization and development, Shri Parshottam Rupala inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for the Paradip Fishing Harbour upgrade project. The initiative aims to enhance the infrastructure, facilities, and overall conditions of the fishing harbor, ensuring improved hygiene, cleanliness, and efficient management practices. The modernization project, implemented by the Paradip Port Authority, is set to contribute to the well-being of thousands of fishermen and allied workers who rely on the harbor for their livelihood.

Continuing the Sagar Parikrama Yatra, the caravan reached the Kharinasi Fish Landing Center in Kendrapada District, Odisha. Shri Rupala applauded the collaborative efforts of fishermen, fish farmers, and community representatives, recognizing their pivotal role in meeting the escalating demand for seafood. He expressed gratitude for the relentless efforts of fishermen and fish farmers, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the nation’s food security.

The Sagar Parikrama Yatra, led by Shri Parshottam Rupala, stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to engaging with and uplifting the fishing community. The journey underscores the significance of sustainable fisheries and the vital role played by those involved in the fisheries and aquaculture sector in ensuring food security and economic prosperity.
