Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Unveils Major Road Infrastructure Projects in Gujarat

New Delhi: Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced significant infrastructural projects in Gujarat, reflecting the government’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and fostering economic development.

In a recent announcement, Nitin Gadkari revealed the approval for the widening of the 12.4 km long Dhrol to Amaran section of National Highway-151-A in Morbi district of Gujarat. The project, estimated at Rs. 625.58 crore, aims to transform the existing stretch into a 4-lane highway, a crucial link in the Amritsar-Jamnagar corridor. This missing link completion will connect four refineries across three states and various economic and social nodes in the project impact area.

Once completed, the Dhrol-Amran-Pipjia route section will provide seamless connectivity to the industrial city of Jamnagar with the eastern and northern parts of Gujarat and the Jamnagar-Rajkot section of National Highway-151A/State Highway 25. Nitin Gadkari highlighted that this project will significantly reduce travel time, enhance traffic safety, and open doors to economic prosperity. The improved connectivity will benefit industries, agro parks, and employment opportunities in the region.

In another announcement, the Union Minister disclosed the approval for the construction of additional structures, including pipelines, in the 15 km long stretch of Vadodara-Surat section on National Highway-48 in Vadodara, Bharuch, and Surat districts of Gujarat. The estimated cost of this project is Rs. 907.39 crore. National Highway-48 is a crucial part of the Golden Quadrilateral, starting from Delhi and passing through several states.

The Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway, currently under construction, will intersect with National Highway-48, improving traffic movement. The project focuses on replacing existing narrow bridges with new 3/4-lane bridges on both sides to eliminate bottlenecks and traffic jams. Additionally, grade separator structures are proposed at accident-prone locations to enhance road safety.

These infrastructural projects underscore the government’s commitment to strengthening transportation networks, reducing travel time, improving safety, and fostering economic growth in Gujarat. Shri Nitin Gadkari emphasized that these initiatives align with the larger vision of propelling India towards a more connected and prosperous future.
