Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Sanctions Rs. 3549.48 Crore for Key Highway Projects in Madhya Pradesh

New Delhi:  Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has given the green light for a substantial allocation of Rs. 3549.48 crores towards the construction and strengthening of various National Highways projects in Madhya Pradesh, marking a significant stride in the state’s infrastructure development.

In a recent announcement, Gadkari revealed that an allocation of Rs. 776.19 crores has been approved for the 4-laning of a 41 km section of National Highway-146 B. This stretch, connecting Shahganj Bypass end to Badi Package-IV in Sehore and Raisen districts of Madhya Pradesh, will be developed under the Hybrid Annuity Mode. The project aims to reduce travel time to key cities such as Jabalpur, Bhopal, Betul, and Indore, fostering enhanced connectivity to National Highway (NH) and State Highway (SH) networks, along with other important city roads. Bypass construction is expected to contribute significantly to accident reduction by segregating commercial traffic from towns.

Another notable allocation of Rs. 1238.59 crores has been approved for the construction of a 6-lane service road on both sides of Ayodhya Bypass, stretching from Asharam Tiraha on National Highway-46 to Ratnagiri Tiraha on National Highway-146 in Bhopal. Developed under the hybrid amputee mode, this project connects National Highway-146 and National Highway-46, providing crucial connectivity to Bhopal Airport. The expansion to a 6-lane service road is expected to alleviate congestion in Ayodhya Bypass/Bhopal city, enhancing traffic flow on National Highways and minimizing accidents by separating local and commercial traffic.

Furthermore, an approval has been granted for the construction of a 34 km long Chasale 6-lane Indore Western Bypass under Hybrid Annuity Mode, costing Rs. 1534.70 crores. Shri Gadkari emphasized that this bypass aims to reduce traffic congestion in Bandur city and contribute to accident reduction by channeling commercial traffic away from the city.
