Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Inspects Key Infrastructural Projects for Enhanced Connectivity

Faridabad: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, recently conducted an on-site inspection of the Faridabad Bypass Site and the construction progress of Package 1 & 2 of DND Sohna Highway on National Highway-148 NA, which includes the spur of the Delhi Mumbai Expressway. This ambitious infrastructure project, executed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana on the Hybrid Annuity Mode, spans 33 km and incurs a cost of Rs 3565 Crore.

The project strategically integrates major highways, creating a seamless network that includes the Direct Noida Delhi flyways, Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway, NH-2 (Delhi-Agra), Delhi Mumbai Expressway, and the Jewar airport connectivity highway.

The urban project features a 6-lane access-controlled highway with 3-lane service roads on both sides in the brownfield stretch. Notable infrastructural elements include 8 elevated sections (total length 12.034 km), 10 flyovers, 6 Vehicular Underpasses (VUPs), 11 Light Vehicle Underpasses (LVUPs), 13 Minor Bridges, 1 Road Over Bridge (ROB), 1 Rail Under Bridge (RUB), 6 Bus Bays, and 102 box culverts.

One of the innovative aspects of the project involves spanning over the Metro Line at four locations, reaching a maximum height of about 27 m. The infrastructure incorporates vertical gardening on piers, providing aesthetic, physiological, economical, and environmental benefits. To address noise pollution concerns, a noise barrier has been implemented along elevated sections.

The project also contributes to environmental sustainability by utilizing 10 hectares of barren land, formerly used for fly ash dumping, for a jungle safari project initiated by the Delhi government. This multi-faceted initiative not only enhances connectivity but also prioritizes eco-friendly and aesthetically pleasing elements, reflecting the government’s commitment to holistic infrastructure development.
