Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Announces Rs. 6728.33 Crore Allocation for Frontier Highway Development in Arunachal Pradesh

New Delhi: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, recently shared a significant development on the road infrastructure front, particularly in the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. In a post, he revealed that an allocation of Rs. 6728.33 crores has been granted for the construction of 8 stretches on NH-913, famously known as the Frontier Highway, as an Intermediate Lane Road. Spanning an extensive 305.50 kilometers, this project is set to be executed on the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) mode.

Shri Gadkari emphasized that this ambitious initiative aims to significantly enhance connectivity to the border areas, contributing to socio-economic progress. The construction of the Frontier Highway is anticipated to play a pivotal role in curbing migration trends, encouraging reverse habitation towards the border regions of Arunachal Pradesh. Additionally, these newly developed stretches of the frontier highway will establish crucial road infrastructure connecting significant river basins, further facilitating the development of numerous hydropower projects in the state.

Highlighting the environmental and economic impact, Shri Gadkari expressed that this predominantly greenfield road will connect sparsely populated Upper Arunachal areas, presenting an ideal landscape for tourism. Anticipating increased traffic due to the burgeoning tourism potential in the future, the Frontier Highway project is expected to not only bolster connectivity but also spur economic activities in the region.

The allocation of Rs. 6728.33 crores for the development of these frontier highway stretches underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure in strategically important border regions. This move is poised to have far-reaching positive effects, fostering economic development, tourism, and creating opportunities for the local population. Shri Nitin Gadkari’s announcement marks a crucial step towards realizing the vision of a well-connected and economically vibrant Arunachal Pradesh.
