Union Minister Narayan Rane Lays Foundation Stone for MSME Multipurpose Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre in Mumbai

Mumbai: Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Narayan Rane, marked a significant milestone today as he laid the foundation stone for the upcoming Multipurpose Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre at Saki Naka, Mumbai. The ceremony was attended by S C L Das, Secretary, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, along with other senior officers of the Ministry and its organizations.

The Multipurpose Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre is envisioned to provide Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with an affordable and accessible platform for knowledge exchange, event organization, exhibitions, seminars, and the showcasing of products and services. The initiative aims to foster collaboration among industry peers and is expected to particularly benefit Self Help Groups, Women Entrepreneurs, SC/ST entrepreneurs, and other marginalized sections of society.

During the event, Narayan Rane inaugurated the exhibition featuring MSMEs, PM Vishwakarma, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), and COIR Board. The Minister engaged with various exhibitors, including incubators, women entrepreneurs, and SC/ST entrepreneurs, appreciating their products from diverse sectors and providing motivation.

Additionally, the Union Minister digitally inaugurated the Branch MSME Development and Facilitation Office in Pune. He also felicitated the beneficiaries of the National SC ST Hub (NSSH), underscoring the government’s commitment to empowering marginalized communities. A workshop on PM Vishwakarma and other schemes was conducted during the occasion to raise awareness about the benefits of these initiatives.

As of March 9, 2024, there are 53.97 lakh registered MSMEs in Maharashtra on the Udyam Portal of the Ministry, constituting approximately 13% of the total MSMEs in India. The MSME sector in the state plays a crucial role in employment generation and economic growth.
