
New Delhi: Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, presided over the 195th meeting of the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Corporation at Shram Shakti Bhawan, New Delhi, today. Union Minister of State for Labour & Employment and Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Ms. Shobha Karandlaje, was also present at the event.
During the meeting, the Corporation approved key financial documents, including the Audited Annual Accounts and Annual Report for the financial year 2023-24, which incorporate the analysis and findings of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). These approvals marked a significant step in evaluating and strengthening the ESI Corporation’s financial and operational performance.
The Corporation also gave its nod to the Revised Estimate for 2024-25, the Budget Estimates for 2025-26, and the Performance Budget for 2025-26. These financial frameworks outline the ESI Corporation’s expenditure plans, fund allocations, and performance goals for the forthcoming fiscal years, ensuring a strategic approach to resource management and alignment with organizational objectives.
The meeting was attended by several prominent figures, including Dola Sen, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), N.K. Premachandran, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Sumita Dawra, Secretary (Labour & Employment), and Ashok Kumar Singh, Director General of the ESI Corporation. Senior officials from state governments, representatives of employers and employees, and experts in the medical field also participated in the discussions, both in-person and via hybrid mode.
The gathering reinforced the government’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency and outreach of the Employees’ State Insurance scheme. Dr. Mandaviya emphasized the importance of these initiatives in providing comprehensive social security and healthcare benefits to workers, aligning with the broader goals of India’s labour welfare framework.
