East Coast Railway Approves 170 Road Over Bridge Projects as Special Railway Projects

Bhubaneswar: In a landmark decision to bolster infrastructure and public safety, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has approved the declaration of 170 Road Over Bridge (ROB) construction projects as Special Railway Projects under the Railway (Amendment) Act, 2008.

This strategic move is aimed at expediting the implementation of these crucial infrastructure projects by simplifying land acquisition procedures and enabling quicker approvals. Designating the ROBs as Special Railway Projects will also ensure smoother collaboration with state authorities, enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring timely completion.

Of the 170 projects, 110 will be situated in Odisha and the remaining 60 in Andhra Pradesh. These ROBs are designed to improve rail infrastructure while significantly enhancing safety and convenience for both road and rail users. By replacing manned level crossings, the projects will mitigate the risk of accidents, improve traffic flow, and support the seamless operation of trains.

The initiative is also expected to ease traffic congestion at level crossing gates, fostering better connectivity across the region. This focus on infrastructure development and public safety aligns with national goals to modernize transportation systems and promote public welfare.

ECoR has reiterated its commitment to advancing transportation infrastructure and contributing to the socio-economic growth of the eastern region. By prioritizing the construction of these 170 ROBs, ECoR is addressing the growing needs of road and rail users while promoting regional development.
