New Delhi: Union Minister for MSME, Jitan Ram Manjhi, along with Minister of State for MSME, Shobha Karandlaje, held a high-level review meeting on the performance of the Khadi and Village Industries (KVI) sector. The meeting also focused on preparations for the upcoming Khadi Mahotsav 2024, to be organized by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) in October.
The review, which was attended by Manoj Kumar, Chairman of KVIC, alongside senior officials from the Ministry of MSME, highlighted the importance of promoting Khadi to boost rural employment and encourage wider use of Khadi products across India.
During the meeting, Union Minister Manjhi stressed the need for a more focused and comprehensive approach to the implementation of schemes aimed at the development of the Khadi sector. He emphasized the importance of generating widespread awareness about Khadi, encouraging citizens to wear Khadi clothing as part of a national effort to support rural artisans and create employment in village industries.
The Khadi Mahotsav 2024 will serve as a platform to promote Khadi products and celebrate the rich heritage of this eco-friendly fabric. With initiatives like this, the government aims to further strengthen the “Make in India” movement while providing sustainable livelihood opportunities to rural communities.
