Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary and Olympic Champion Abhinav Bindra Inspire Student-Athletes at Interactive Event

New Delhi: In a celebration of young sporting talent, Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) and Minister of State for Education, Jayant Chaudhary, engaged with young athletes and para-athletes from Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV) and Navodaya Vidyalayas (NV) who have excelled at national and international levels. The event featured India’s first individual Olympic Gold medalist, Abhinav Bindra, who shared his inspirational journey with the students.

The interaction brought together 14 award-winning student-athletes from KVs and NVs, along with Secretary of the Department of School Education & Literacy, Sanjay Kumar; KVS Commissioner, Nidhi Pandey; and other officials. Hundreds of students and teachers joined virtually, making the event a wide-reaching celebration of youth achievements.

Addressing the gathering, Jayant Chaudhary lauded the student-athletes for their hard work and dedication. He emphasized that sporting success stems not just from on-field efforts but also from cultivating a focused mindset, discipline, and a structured approach. Highlighting the role of education and skill development in nurturing talent, the Minister referred to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which advocates exposing students to diverse opportunities early in life.

Abhinav Bindra captivated the audience with insights from his 22-year-long journey in sports, underscoring the values of hard work, integrity, and respect. He spoke about the broader lessons sports impart, including respecting rules, competitors, and oneself, and embracing the Olympic values of Excellence, Respect, and Friendship. “Sports are not just about wins and losses—they are about personal growth,” he remarked.

Sanjay Kumar expressed gratitude to the Minister for conceiving the programme, noting its potential to inspire students nationwide. He highlighted how the NEP 2020 is shaping the future of education in KVs and NVs, ensuring a well-rounded development for students.

The event also featured a question-and-answer session where virtual attendees had the chance to interact with Bindra. Students shared their achievements, and Bindra offered thoughtful responses, encouraging them to aim higher.

The day served as a powerful reminder of the transformative impact of sports and education, uniting visionaries, role models, and young achievers in a celebration of excellence and perseverance.
