Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Highlights India’s Educational Reforms at India Leadership Summit 2024

Washington DC: Union Minister for Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, participated in a fireside chat today at the India Leadership Summit 2024, organized by the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF). Joined by LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky and Pace University President Marvin Krislov, the discussion focused on India’s evolving educational landscape and its potential to address global challenges.

Speaking at the event, Pradhan highlighted the significant strides India has made in education as the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 approaches its five-year milestone. He emphasized the government’s efforts to integrate new technologies, promote learning in Indian languages, and improve research and employability skills among students. According to the Minister, these initiatives are driving India towards becoming a hub for competency-based education and knowledge-driven enterprises.

“India is embracing unprecedented changes in its educational system, helping learners prepare for the future by focusing on skills and innovation,” said Pradhan. He stressed that India’s education reforms are not just about academic degrees but are aimed at fostering global citizens ready to tackle the challenges of the 21st century.

The Minister also discussed India’s readiness to play a leading role in addressing global challenges. He underscored India’s openness to welcoming foreign universities to establish campuses in the country and its commitment to shifting the educational paradigm to prioritize skills and competencies over traditional degrees. “India is ready to meet the aspirations of its people and emerge as a global growth engine,” Pradhan added.
