Union Minister Arjun Munda Inaugurates Girls Hostel and Administrative Building at IARI, Pusa

New Delhi: In a significant development, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Tribal Affairs, Shri Arjun Munda, inaugurated the Girls Hostel “Phalguni” and administrative building “Chayan Bhawan” at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Pusa, New Delhi. The ceremony witnessed the presence of Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Ms. Shobha Karandlaje, Shri Kailash Chaudhary, Secretary of DARE, Director General of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Chairman of Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB) Dr. Sanjay Kumar, and IARI Director Dr. A.K. Singh.

During the inauguration, Shri Arjun Munda highlighted the Central Government’s commitment to the development of the agriculture sector and farmers under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The government’s focus on empowering farmers through various schemes and programs, linking farming with modern technologies, and promoting self-reliance in agriculture was emphasized. Shri Munda urged tribal farmers to contribute to the dissemination of advanced technologies and best practices learned during their training at IARI.

The newly inaugurated Girls Hostel “Phalguni” boasts modern facilities, including 500 rooms, a food court, solar energy systems, rainwater harvesting, generator-based power backup, Wi-Fi, R.O. drinking water, firefighting systems, parking, and elevators. The administrative building “Chayan Bhawan” is expected to enhance the institute’s operational efficiency.

Several dignitaries, including Minister of State Shri Kailash Chaudhary, Ms. Shobha Karandlaje, DG Dr. Pathak, Chairman Dr. Sanjay, and IARI Director Dr. Singh, shared their views on the occasion. The event witnessed the presence of officials from ICAR, IAIR, ASRB, scientists, teachers, students, and farmers.

The advancements in infrastructure at IARI underscore the government’s commitment to promoting excellence in agricultural research and education, aligning with the vision for a prosperous and self-sufficient farming community.
