New Delhi: Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, virtually inaugurated the 4th edition of the IMC-YLF Youth Conclave today, addressing a diverse audience of students and young professionals. During the inaugural session, Minister Thakur highlighted the significance of the youth in India’s journey towards ‘Vision Viksit Bharat@2047’ and encouraged them to actively contribute to the nation’s development.
Underlining the imminent 100th year of India’s independence, Shri Thakur expressed the government’s vision for India as a superpower, with the youth playing a central role. He urged the young generation to be proactive, seize opportunities, and embrace new technologies to drive the country forward.
Emphasizing the youth’s pivotal role in ‘Vision Viksit Bharat@2047,’ Minister Thakur cited India’s vast potential, boasting a workforce of 547 million individuals, constituting 41% of the 1.4 billion population. With nearly a billion Indians under the age of 35, the youth demographic is set to define India’s future. Shri Thakur encouraged them to not only shape the nation’s future but also safeguard its aspirations and policies.
Discussing ‘Vision Viksit Bharat 2024,’ the Minister highlighted India’s rapid growth on the internet, with three Indians joining every minute, two from rural areas. Anticipating 20% of the world’s middle class to be in India by 2024, Shri Thakur called upon young entrepreneurs to innovate and disrupt sectors crucial for development.
Acknowledging the significance of startups, Minister Thakur noted the government’s support, recognizing 17 thousand startups generating 1.3 million jobs. He highlighted initiatives like ‘My Yuva Bharat,’ empowering Indian youth for the nation’s centenary of independence in 2024.
Affirming the commitment to position India as the content hub of the world, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur emphasized the nation’s human resource, technical capabilities, and incentives for pre and post-production. He highlighted The Cinematograph (Amendment) Act, 2023, aimed at protecting intellectual property and preventing substantial losses in the Indian Film Industry.
The conclave, attended by students from universities and colleges across the country, provided a platform for meaningful discussions, encouraging the youth to actively contribute to India’s journey towards progress and development.
