Union Home Minister Amit Shah Addresses Suttur Jathra Mahotsav in Mysuru

Mysuru:  Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah addressed the Suttur Jathra Mahotsav in Mysuru, Karnataka, today, alongside Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi and other dignitaries. During his speech, Shri Amit Shah praised the Suttur Mutt for embodying the principles of selfless service, work as worship, and charity.

Highlighting the uninterrupted tradition of service and yagya carried forward by the 24 saints presiding over the Suttur Mahasamsthana Mutt, Shri Shah acknowledged the millions of followers worldwide. He commended the Mutt for bringing light into people’s lives and emphasized its role in preserving cultural heritage.

The Home Minister noted that the ongoing festival from February 6 to 11 contributes to the revival of cultural heritage. He mentioned the various festivities, including Rathotsav, Tapotsav, mass marriages, agricultural fairs, wrestling, and traditional games, which encompass different aspects of social life.

Shri Amit Shah lauded Jagadguru Shri Shivrathri Deshikendra Mahaswami for his efforts in advancing the Mutt’s tradition. He highlighted the 350 educational institutes under the Mutt, with over 20,000 personnel and more than one lakh students. The establishment of a Polytechnic Institute for Divyang students, with over 900 specially-abled students, was particularly commended.

Referring to the consecration of Lord Ram’s statue in Ayodhya by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 22, Shri Amit Shah mentioned the decision of Suttur Mutt to establish its branch in Ayodhya. He praised Prime Minister Modi for showcasing India’s cultural heritage globally, citing initiatives like the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, Mahakal Corridor, Baba Kedarnath, and the revival of Badri Dham.

Shri Shah emphasized the Prime Minister’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting India’s cultural roots, including Yoga, Ayurveda, and various languages, alongside efforts to ensure the country’s safety and prosperity. The Suttur Jathra Mahotsav serves as a testament to the cultural vibrancy and traditions upheld by institutions like Suttur Mutt.
