IREDA and IIT Bhubaneswar Join Forces for Renewable Energy Innovation and Research

Bhubaneswar:  In a groundbreaking move to bolster innovation and research in the renewable energy sector, the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA) and the Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar (IIT Bhubaneswar) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The historic agreement was inked today, February 11, 2024, during the 100 Cube Start-up Conclave held at IIT Bhubaneswar.

The primary objectives of this collaboration are to foster joint efforts in innovation and research initiatives, facilitate technology transfer, and provide substantial support to the burgeoning start-up ecosystem in the renewable energy domain.

The MoU opens the door for IREDA and IIT Bhubaneswar to engage in collaborative research projects, encouraging the exchange of knowledge and expertise. By bridging the gap between academia and industry, the partnership aims to accelerate the development and deployment of cutting-edge technologies in the renewable energy sector.

Furthermore, the collaboration will play a pivotal role in nurturing the start-up ecosystem by offering essential support and guidance to emerging ventures. Both organizations are committed to providing a conducive environment for start-ups to flourish, contributing to the overall growth and sustainability of the renewable energy industry.

The agreement encompasses various initiatives, including capacity-building programs such as training sessions, seminars, and workshops designed to enhance the skills of IREDA officials. This will ensure that the workforce remains at the forefront of technological advancements, fostering a culture of continuous learning and adaptation.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by key dignitaries, including Shri Pradip Kumar Das, Chairman & Managing Director of IREDA, and Dr. Debi Prasad Dogra, Independent Director of IIT Bhubaneswar. The event was graced by the presence of Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Education, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, and Prof. Shreepad Karmalkar, Director of IIT Bhubaneswar.

Speaking about the collaboration, Shri Pradip Kumar Das expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “This collaboration marks a significant step towards harnessing the full potential of renewable energy. By combining the strengths of IREDA and IIT Bhubaneswar, we aim to drive innovation, facilitate technology transfer, and provide a robust platform for start-ups to thrive.”

Dr. Debi Prasad Dogra, Independent Director of IIT Bhubaneswar, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of academia-industry collaboration in addressing the challenges of the renewable energy sector. “Our partnership with IREDA is a testament to the shared commitment to sustainable and clean energy solutions. Together, we can make meaningful strides in advancing research and technology development,” he remarked.

The collaboration between IREDA and IIT Bhubaneswar is expected to set a precedent for similar partnerships in the renewable energy sector, paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future.
