New Delhi: Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda, chaired a high-level meeting today with senior officials of the Union Health Ministry to outline the health goals to be achieved within the first 100 days of the new government’s formation. Joining him were Union Ministers of State for Health and Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel and Jadhav Prataprao Ganpatrao.
During the meeting, Minister Nadda emphasized the need to enhance the quality of health facilities and health systems across the country. He directed officials to prioritize the expansion of health assurance coverage under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PMJAY) and to leverage technology in programs such as immunization and health emergency response management.
“The focus should be on quality and accessibility. We must ensure that our health facilities meet high standards and that our health systems are robust and capable of handling emergencies,” said Nadda.
Expressing his concern over the rising incidence of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), Nadda underscored the importance of public awareness regarding healthy diets and lifestyles. He stressed the necessity of targeted campaigns aimed at youth to control tobacco use and promote healthier habits.
“Non-Communicable Diseases are a growing concern, and it’s vital to educate the public about the risks associated with unhealthy lifestyles and tobacco use. Our campaigns need to be clear, scientifically sound, and easily understandable for everyone,” Nadda added.
The Minister also highlighted the need for innovative approaches to raise awareness about NCDs and the harmful effects of tobacco. He called for the creation of educational materials that communicate these messages effectively to the common man.
