Odisha to Develop E-Portal for Settlement of Sri Jagannath’s Land

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will develop an e-portal to streamline the settlement of Sri Jagannath’s land and create a comprehensive database of people who have been in possession of such land for a long period.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Law, Works and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan at Lok Seva Bhawan on Friday to review the ongoing process of granting land rights to sevayats and non-sevayats residing on Sri Jagannath’s land.

Through the proposed portal, people in possession of Sri Jagannath’s land will be able to submit their details online. The system is expected to facilitate systematic processing of applications and bring greater transparency to the settlement exercise.

Harichandan reviewed the proposed system and suggested measures to make the portal more accessible and effective for people seeking settlement of the land.

The initiative is part of the ongoing process to grant land rights to eligible sevayats and non-sevayats who have been residing on Sri Jagannath’s land for an extended period.

Sri Mandir Chief Administrator and Revenue Department Additional Chief Secretary Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Electronics and Information Technology Department Additional Chief Secretary Vishal Dev, Law Department Principal Secretary Dr Pabitra Mohan Samal and Additional Secretary Shibaprasad Mahapatra attended the meeting.

Puri Collector Divyajyoti Parida joined the meeting virtually, while senior officials from the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) and Odisha Network for Information and Communication (ONIC) were also present.

The proposed digital system is expected to provide a centralised platform for collecting land-related details and support a more structured settlement process.
