UGC Launches Capacity-Building Training Program for Central University Staff

New Delhi: To enhance the work culture and ecosystem within central universities across the country, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has initiated a specialized training program for staff members of all 45 such institutions.

The UGC, in collaboration with the Capacity Building Commission (CBC), launched the capacity-building training program on Thursday, aiming to train at least 5,000 employees from central universities in the first phase.

UGC Chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar outlined the scope of the training, stating that it will encompass various crucial aspects such as understanding the psychology of workflow, leveraging technology, navigating the higher education ecosystem, managing academic affairs, handling establishment matters, financial management, and project management.

Employees in non-teaching roles within central universities are encouraged to complete courses covering these areas available on the iGOT Mission Karmayogi platform within the next four months. Upon completion, participants will receive certificates validating their newly acquired skills.

The Capacity Building Commission (CBC) was established by the Government of India under the ‘Mission Karmayogi’ initiative of the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT). The CBC focuses on standardization and coordination across various civil services in the country, aiming to enhance the skills, knowledge, and abilities of government employees to deliver high-quality public services effectively.

Recognizing the critical role of capacity building in driving professional development, organizational efficiency, and innovation, the UGC has taken proactive steps to align with the broader mission of enhancing skill sets across the higher education sector.
