Translocated Tigress Jamuna Released into Core Area of Similipal Forest

Mayurbhanj: Tigress Jamuna, recently relocated from Maharashtra’s Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, has now been released into the core area of Odisha’s Similipal Forest, Deputy Director Dr. Samrat Gowda of the Similipal South Wildlife Division announced on Saturday.

Jamuna left her soft enclosure at approximately 10 a.m. on Saturday, making her way into the dense core of the Similipal forest. “We are closely monitoring her movement with the help of our trained monitoring team,” Gowda stated, ensuring her integration into the ecosystem is closely supervised.

Jamuna joins 28 other rare and melanistic tigers, unique to Similipal, in the forest’s core area. She arrived at the Similipal Tiger Reserve on October 27 and was initially released into a soft enclosure on October 28 to acclimate to her new environment before moving into the forest’s heart.
