Bhubaneswar: Setting an example of educational excellence, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the revamped Government High School in IRC Village, State Capital. This transformation project represents a comprehensive initiative to elevate the educational infrastructure, introducing smart classrooms and top-tier facilities for students.
The transformed school premises now feature modern amenities, including 12 new classrooms, a football ground, designated areas for outdoor activities, a children’s park, a dedicated parking zone, an open-air stage, a tennis court, and a mid-day meal distribution center.
Each classroom is equipped with facilities, accompanied by a public announcement system to facilitate effective communication within the school. This upgrade aims to create an enriching learning environment while supporting the holistic development of students.
The school’s playground has been enhanced to include a running track, yoga space, open-air gym, volleyball and kabaddi courts, along with efficient surface drainage. These facilities extend beyond school hours, benefiting the broader community.
Established on October 25, 1983, the school initially faced space constraints. However, following its relocation to a new building on September 22, 1988, featuring 8 classrooms and 4 staff rooms, it began catering to approximately 650 students. With the recent transformation, the school’s capacity has expanded to accommodate around 2000 students.
