Odisha CM Unveils Nilamadhab Niwas, an affordable housing project for slum dwellers

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated Nilamadhab Niwas, an affordable housing project aimed at transforming the lives of slum dwellers in the capital city. This initiative falls under the Odisha Government’s visionary ‘Housing for All’ policy, aligning with its commitment to providing dignified housing solutions for the urban poor.

Handing over the keys to the beneficiaries at the project site near Care Hospital, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his joy at witnessing the realization of a dream where the urban poor could now have a place they can call their own.

Nilamadhab Niwas, strategically located near Care Hospital, Bhubaneswar, stands as a testament to the government’s dedication to uplifting living conditions in slum areas. The project not only offers affordable housing but also provides a spectrum of essential amenities to enhance the well-being and living standards of the beneficiaries.

With a total of 1200 Dwelling Units (DUs), 960 units have already been completed and handed over to the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) for allotment. Currently, 455 beneficiaries have been allotted housing units, while the remaining are in the process of allocation.

This housing project prioritizes inclusivity and community well-being. A dedicated community hall fosters social gatherings, community events, and educational initiatives, nurturing a sense of unity among residents. A well-designed commercial complex within the project area caters to the diverse needs of the community, promoting convenience and sustainability.

Ensuring seamless connectivity, Nilamadhab Niwas provides easy access to major roadways and public transportation hubs, facilitating convenient commuting for work, education, and leisure activities. A dedicated play area for children equipped with safe and engaging equipment encourages recreation and promotes a healthy lifestyle among the youth of the community.

The project places a strong emphasis on safety and security, with round-the-clock security services and fire safety measures to create a secure living environment. Additionally, the implementation of adequate water and sanitation facilities, including clean drinking water, proper sewage systems, and waste management, addresses the basic hygiene needs of the community.

Nilamadhab Niwas is not just a housing project; it is a holistic living environment that aims to empower slum dwellers with the resources and opportunities necessary for an improved quality of life. This initiative contributes to the larger vision of creating sustainable and inclusive urban spaces that prioritize the well-being of all residents.
