Traffic Advisory Issued for Durga Idol Immersion Procession in Bhubaneswar on Monday

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Traffic Police has issued an advisory regarding vehicle movement in the city for Monday, October 16, in light of the Goddess Durga idol immersion procession. A series of traffic restrictions will be in place across the capital to manage the flow of vehicles during the immersion event. These restrictions will be enforced from 3:00 pm to 1:00 am or until the procession concludes.

Key Traffic Restrictions:

  • Saheed Nagar (Bhubaneswar Bhasani Utsav Committee):
Traffic moving towards Rupali Square from Vani Vihar will be diverted to Acharya Vihar. Vehicles will not be permitted on Janpath, and will instead be directed towards Sachivalay Marg and nearby roads. This regulation will remain in effect from 3:00 pm or the start of the procession until 1:00 am, or the end of the event.
  • CRP Square (Rajdhani Mandir Suraksha Bhasani Samiti, Nayapalli):
Traffic heading towards Cuttack from CRP Square will be diverted via Jaydev Vihar, passing Ekamra Park and Biju Patnaik College. This will be implemented from 3:00 pm until 1:00 am or until the procession clears CRP Square. Additionally, traffic on Stewart School Road, Unit-8 Road, and OUAT Square-New Airport Road will be rerouted to adjacent streets.
  • Uttar Bhubaneswar Vasani Committee-C.S.Pur:
Traffic from KIIT to Nalco Square will be diverted to alternative routes from Nandan Kanan Jayadev Vihar Road. This will be in effect from 3:00 pm until 1:00 am or until the dispersal of the “Medhas” (idols).
  • Heavy Vehicle Restrictions:
Heavy vehicles coming from Khurdha towards Bhubaneswar will be rerouted at the Fire Station Over Bridge flyover. No heavy vehicles will be allowed on the service road during the restrictions.

These traffic regulations are aimed at ensuring smooth vehicle flow and safety during the processions. However, emergency vehicles such as police, fire brigade, ambulances, and excise services will be exempt from these restrictions.
