Traditional Paroja and Dhurua Dances Enchant Audience at SCSTRTI’s Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Celebration

Bhubaneswar: As part of the ongoing Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh celebrations, the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Research and Training Institute (SCSTRTI) organised a vibrant cultural programme on Wednesday that brought alive Odisha’s rich tribal heritage through traditional dance performances.

The event featured the Paroja and Dhurua dances, performed by tribal artists from Koraput, captivating the audience with their rhythmic beats, colourful costumes, and graceful movements that reflect the deep-rooted cultural traditions of the tribal communities.

The programme was graced by Sudhakar Sabara, Director, SCSTRTI, and Santosh Kumar, Deputy Director, along with senior officials and staff members of the Institute. More than 100 visitors and around 200 school students attended the event and enthusiastically witnessed the performances that celebrated the spirit, identity, and artistic expression of Odisha’s tribal people.

Speaking at the event, Sabara praised the performers for their outstanding contribution to preserving and promoting indigenous art forms. He emphasised that such initiatives not only highlight Odisha’s tribal diversity but also inspire younger generations to value and sustain their cultural legacy.

At the conclusion of the programme, the Director felicitated the Paroja and Dhurua dance troupes from Koraput, recognising their dedication and commitment to keeping these age-old traditions alive. The celebration served as a reminder of Odisha’s vibrant tribal heritage and the collective effort to safeguard it for future generations.
