New Delhi: In a ceremony organized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) and the National Rehabilitation Examination Board, students excelling in special education and disability rehabilitation were honored today at the convocation held at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre. The event celebrated the achievements of 16 students, including 3 students with disabilities, in the presence of distinguished guests, Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment (SJE) Dr. Virendra Kumar and Minister of State (SJE) B.L. Verma.

During his address, Dr. Virendra Kumar highlighted the significance of the convocation as a milestone in the lives of students. Dr. Kumar praised the resilience of students with disabilities, stating that their success sends a powerful message that physical challenges should not hinder the pursuit of education. He also acknowledged the pivotal role of RCI in supporting children with disabilities in the educational sector.

Minister of State B.L. Verma congratulated the top-performing students and reiterated the importance of education as a foundation for social empowerment. “Our students with disabilities are setting new milestones in education, which is a source of pride for society,” Verma remarked.

Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, underscored the critical role of teachers in shaping the lives of students and encouraged graduates to continue their pursuit of special education and disability rehabilitation. He also stressed the need to modernize educational resources in these fields, with a focus on making books accessible in both English and Hindi, including works by Indian authors.
