Top-Ranked Women’s Hockey Teams, Netherlands and Australia, Land in Bhubaneswar for FIH Hockey Pro League 2023/24 Opener

Bhubaneswar: In a momentous arrival at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, the Netherlands and Australia, the world’s top two ranked women’s hockey teams, touched down to kick off their campaign in the FIH Hockey Pro League 2023/24. This prestigious league is scheduled to unfold at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium in Bhubaneswar from 3rd to 9th February, before making its way to the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela for the continued action from 12th to 18th February.

The India leg of the FIH Hockey Pro League 2023/24 will witness the participation of five national teams – India, China, the United States of America, the Netherlands, and Australia. The teams will face each other once in Bhubaneswar and once in Rourkela, setting the stage for an exhilarating competition.

Australia is set to play its first match against China on 3rd February, followed by a clash with the United States on 6th February. The team will then face India on 7th February and take on the Netherlands on 9th February.

The Netherlands will commence their campaign on 3rd February against the United States, followed by matches against India on 4th February and China on 6th February. The Dutch team will wrap up the Bhubaneswar leg by facing Australia on 9th February.

Expressing the importance of the FIH Hockey Pro League 2023/24, Netherlands’ Captain Maria Verschoor commented, “The FIH Hockey Pro League 2023/24 is a crucial fixture for us as it serves as a preparatory event for the Paris 2024 Olympics. We are looking forward to it and are excited for what is to come.”

Australia’s Captain Grace Stewart echoed similar sentiments, stating, “The FIH Hockey Pro League 2023/24 is super important for us. We will face a lot of good quality teams here, and it is a great opportunity to bring things together as a team and get some matches under our belt.”

All matches of the FIH Hockey Pro League 2023/24 will be streamed on JioCinema. Additionally, all India matches will be telecast on Sports18 – Khel, ensuring that fans do not miss out on the thrilling encounters as these top-ranked teams vie for supremacy on the hockey field.
