Three-Tier Security in Place at Barabati Stadium Ahead of India–South Africa T20I

Bhubaneswar: With Barabati Stadium gearing up to host the first T20 International between India and South Africa on December 9, Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania on Saturday carried out a comprehensive review of security arrangements at the iconic Cuttack venue, underscoring the State’s focus on safety and crowd management for the high-profile fixture.

During the on-ground inspection, the DGP assessed preparedness related to player security, spectator safety, and overall law and order within and around the stadium. He said a robust three-tier security mechanism has been put in place to ensure the smooth and incident-free conduct of the international match.

The review included a detailed evaluation of traffic regulation and parking plans, entry and exit management with strict frisking protocols, CCTV surveillance coverage, anti-sabotage measures, deployment of police personnel, and special arrangements for the movement of both teams.

Expressing satisfaction with the arrangements, DGP Khurania commended the Odisha Cricket Association for making “excellent preparations” this year. He noted that Barabati Stadium has consistently hosted major international matches successfully and expressed confidence that the upcoming game would be no different with public cooperation.

Appealing to spectators to arrive at the stadium three to four hours in advance to avoid congestion, the DGP assured that all necessary steps are being taken to maintain a peaceful, safe, and disciplined atmosphere throughout the event.

Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh, Additional Commissioner Narasingha Bhol, Cuttack DCP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo, other senior police officials, and representatives of the Odisha Cricket Association were present during the security review.
