Three Major Trains to Operate from Bhubaneswar New Station Starting May 12

Bhubaneswar: In a significant move aimed at decongesting Bhubaneswar Main Station and enhancing accessibility for commuters in North Bhubaneswar, Athgarh, and Cuttack regions, Indian Railways has announced a change in the terminal point for three major express trains. Effective May 12, 2025, the Konark Express (11020/11019), Visakha Express (17015/17016), and the Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam Inter City Express (22819/22820) will originate and terminate at the newly developed Bhubaneswar New Station instead of Bhubaneswar Main Station.

All three trains will also provide a two-minute stoppage at Mancheswar Railway Station in both directions, and will continue to halt at Bhubaneswar Main Station for 20 minutes, allowing passengers from the central city area to board and alight as before.

Revised Train Operations

Konark Express (11019/11020):

  • 11019 Mumbai-Bhubaneswar Konark Express will terminate at Bhubaneswar New Station from May 11. After reaching Bhubaneswar Main at its regular time, it will depart at 11:55 PM, halt at Mancheswar (12:02 AM – 12:04 AM), and reach Bhubaneswar New at 12:20 AM.
  • 11020 Bhubaneswar-Mumbai Konark Express will originate from Bhubaneswar New at 2:40 PM from May 12. It will stop at Mancheswar (2:48 PM – 2:50 PM) and Bhubaneswar Main (3:00 PM – 3:20 PM) before heading to Mumbai.

Visakha Express (17015/17016):

  • 17016 Secunderabad-Bhubaneswar Visakha Express will terminate at Bhubaneswar New from May 11, departing Bhubaneswar Main at 4:00 PM, halting at Mancheswar (4:04 PM – 4:06 PM), and reaching Bhubaneswar New at 4:25 PM.
  • 17015 Bhubaneswar-Secunderabad Visakha Express will originate from Bhubaneswar New at 8:00 AM on May 12, stopping at Mancheswar (8:08 AM – 8:10 AM) and Bhubaneswar Main (8:20 AM – 8:40 AM) before proceeding to Secunderabad.

Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam Inter City Express (22819/22820):

  • 22820 Visakhapatnam-Bhubaneswar Inter City will terminate at Bhubaneswar New from May 12, departing Bhubaneswar Main at 12:15 AM, halting at Mancheswar (12:20 AM – 12:22 AM), and arriving at Bhubaneswar New at 12:35 AM.
  • 22819 Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam Inter City will originate from Bhubaneswar New at 7:15 AM from May 12, stopping at Mancheswar (7:18 AM – 7:20 AM) and Bhubaneswar Main (7:25 AM – 7:45 AM) before proceeding to Visakhapatnam.

The new arrangement is expected to ease congestion at Bhubaneswar Main Station and offer enhanced access for commuters from nearby suburban areas. By providing additional halts at Mancheswar, the Railways aims to serve a wider passenger base while maintaining the convenience of passengers in central Bhubaneswar.
