
Bhubaneswar: An anonymous e-mail threatening to cause damage to court premises has been received by several courts, prompting swift action by the police, officials said on Wednesday.
Police have taken cognisance of the threat and launched a thorough investigation to ascertain its source and credibility. As a precautionary step, enhanced security arrangements and intensified checking have been put in place at all affected court locations to ensure the safety of judicial officers, staff and the public.
Authorities said the situation is being closely monitored, with security personnel deployed to prevent any untoward incident. Police have also initiated technical analysis of the e-mail to trace its origin.
Meanwhile, the public has been advised not to panic and to extend full cooperation to the police by following security protocols and promptly reporting any suspicious activity, officials added.
