Telangana Chief Minister Announces Launch of Caste Census

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, in a significant development, reaffirmed the state’s commitment to conducting a caste census, a promise made by the Congress party to the electorate before the elections. In a review meeting held at the Secretariat, Chief Minister Reddy directed the officials to take necessary measures for the prompt initiation of the caste census.

An official release from the Telangana government stated, “The officials concerned have been asked to take necessary action to launch the caste census.”

During the comprehensive review, Chief Minister Reddy focused on the departments of minorities, backward classes, and tribals. Notably, he urged officials to submit proposals for constructing permanent Gurukul school buildings instead of relying on rented facilities.

Furthermore, Chief Minister Reddy emphasized the consolidation of SC, ST, and BC Gurukul institutions within the Integrated Educational Hub, streamlining their setup for better efficiency.

In an effort to ensure the smooth functioning of Gurukul schools, Chief Minister Reddy directed officials to promptly clear diet charges, cosmetic charges, and cooking bills. The payments for these expenditures will be facilitated through the green channel, streamlining financial processes.

Addressing the welfare of girls from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, Chief Minister Reddy instructed officials to prepare budget estimates for the implementation of the ‘Kalyanamastu’ scheme. The scheme aims to provide one tola gold in addition to a financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to eligible girls at the time of their marriage.

The proactive measures announced by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy underscore the government’s commitment to educational development and the fulfillment of promises made to the citizens of Telangana.
