Tamil Nadu Dfeates Chandigarh with Narayan Jagadeesan’s Triple Century in Ranji Trophy Clash

Valsad: In a spectacular display of cricket prowess, Tamil Nadu secured a commanding victory over Chandigarh, defeating them by an innings and 293 runs in the fourth round of the Ranji Trophy 2023-24. The Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science Ground witnessed a remarkable performance, led by Narayan Jagadeesan’s triple century, alongside centuries from Pradosh Ranjan Paul and Baba Indrajith.

Narayan Jagadeesan, fresh from a double century in the previous game, showcased his brilliance by smashing an impressive triple century. Starting the day at 108, Jagadeesan’s remarkable innings of 321 off 403 balls included 23 fours and five sixes, setting the stage for Tamil Nadu’s dominance in the match.

Tamil Nadu declared their first innings at a staggering 610 for 4, securing a massive 499-run lead over Chandigarh. Pradosh Ranjan Paul (105) and Baba Indrajith (123) also contributed with splendid centuries, consolidating Tamil Nadu’s formidable position.

In the bowling department, R Sai Kishore and Ajith Ram played crucial roles, capturing 8 wickets collectively (5/80 and 3/42 respectively). Chandigarh’s second innings was restricted to 206 runs as Tamil Nadu’s bowlers continued their impressive performance.

Chandigarh, struggling to match Tamil Nadu’s dominance, was bowled out for 111 in 47 overs in their first innings. With a lead of 499 runs, Tamil Nadu further asserted their dominance, making 221 for 1 on the first day and adding 389 runs before declaring at 610 for 4 in 126.1 overs.

Narayan Jagadeesan’s consistency was evident as he had previously made an unbeaten 245 in Tamil Nadu’s innings and 129 run victory over Railways in their last game.

Tamil Nadu’s commanding win cements their position as a strong contender in Ranji Trophy Group C. The team’s all-around performance, with stellar batting displays and effective bowling, marks them as a force to be reckoned with as they look ahead to future encounters in the prestigious tournament.
