Summer Fiesta 2024 Kicks Off at National Bal Bhavan in New Delhi

New Delhi: Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, inaugurated the highly anticipated “Summer Fiesta 2024” at the National Bal Bhavan today. The month-long camp, running from May 29 to June 28, offers over 30 diverse activities for children aged 5 to 16 years, aiming to engage young minds in creative and educational pursuits. Shri Vipin Kumar, Additional Secretary (SS-II), Department of School Education & Literacy and Chairman of National Bal Bhavan, along with senior ministry officials, were also present at the event.

Addressing the gathering of eager children and their parents, Sanjay Kumar underscored the importance of such interactive and innovative programs in the holistic development of children. He highlighted that alongside academic achievements, extracurricular activities play a crucial role in shaping successful futures. Encouraging the children to stay curious and explore their surroundings, Kumar emphasized that such exploration is key to opening their minds to new ideas and possibilities.

Summer Fiesta 2024 promises a rich array of activities spanning Creative and Performing Arts, Science, and more. Special workshops and programs will be conducted weekly, featuring sessions on Odissi dance, Yoga, Calligraphy, Music recitals, and various games. These workshops are meticulously designed to help children develop and showcase their skills and talents in a supportive environment.

The event will also host eminent artists and guests who will share their experiences and perform, inspiring the young participants with their captivating presentations. The initiative has already garnered an overwhelming response, with over 2500 children enrolled in the various workshops and programs. To ensure accessibility, the National Bal Bhavan has arranged transportation facilities across Delhi for all participants.

Founded in 1956, the National Bal Bhavan is an autonomous body under the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education. It was established with the vision of fostering learning through thinking, imagination, creativity, and entertaining activities for children. The Summer Fiesta exemplifies this vision by providing a platform for children to explore their interests and develop their abilities in a fun and educational setting.

Sanjay Kumar, in his opening remarks, said, “These programs are vital in nurturing the creativity and curiosity of our young minds. They complement academic learning and play a significant role in the holistic development of children.”

Vipin Kumar, who also spoke at the event, emphasized the commitment of the National Bal Bhavan to providing quality extracurricular activities that help in the overall growth of children. He mentioned, “Our goal is to create an environment where children can learn, play, and grow. Summer Fiesta 2024 is a step towards achieving this vision.”
