Melbourne:  In a remarkable display of skill and determination, World No. 137 Sumit Nagal made history at the Australian Open by defeating World No. 27 Alexander Bublik with straight sets domination—6-4, 6-2, 7-6(5). Nagal’s victory not only propels him into the second round of the Australian Open but also establishes him as the first Indian to achieve this feat in 11 years.

This historic win also marks Sumit Nagal as the first male singles player from India since 1989 to conquer a seeded competitor at a Grand Slam event. The 24-year-old tennis sensation showcased his prowess on the court, leaving a lasting impact on the global tennis stage.
