Stockholm: The Nobel Prize in Literature for 2024 has been awarded to South Korean author Han Kang, in recognition of her “intense poetic prose that confronts historical traumas and exposes the fragility of human life,” as announced by the Swedish Academy today.

Best known for her internationally acclaimed novel The Vegetarian, Han Kang has garnered a global following with her powerful storytelling, exploring themes of violence, trauma, and the complexities of the human condition. Her works, characterized by a blend of poetic language and emotionally charged narratives, have resonated deeply with readers around the world.

The Nobel Committee lauded Han’s literary prowess, noting her ability to intertwine history and personal struggles, portraying the human experience with a sensitivity that highlights both vulnerability and resilience.
