New Delhi: The Sindhu Shikhar car rally, an ambitious expedition from Delhi to Leh and back, was flagged off by Vice Admiral Sanjay Bhalla, the Chief of Personnel, on June 10, 2024, from New Delhi. The primary objective of this rally is to raise awareness about India’s rich maritime heritage and promote maritime consciousness in the northern states.
The expedition, comprising 40 naval personnel, will cover a distance of 3,637 kilometers over 18 days, traversing through remote regions. This journey marks a significant outreach effort by the Indian Navy, particularly targeting the regions of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh.
During the expedition, the team will engage with local communities through interactions at schools, colleges, and NCC units along the route. These sessions aim to inform and inspire students about career opportunities in the Indian Navy and motivate the youth to consider joining the armed forces. Additionally, the rally will feature a veterans’ interaction program in Chandigarh, honoring the service of proud veterans and fostering a sense of continuity and connection with the naval community.
