Shubman Gill Wins ICC Men’s Player of the Month Award for February 2025

Dubai: Shubman Gill, India’s dynamic opening batsman, has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February 2025. This marks his third win of the prestigious award, with the 25-year-old outshining Australian star Steve Smith and New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips.

Expressing his delight, Gill said, “I am elated to win the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for February. Nothing motivates me more than performing with the bat and winning matches for my country.” His consistent and match-winning performances throughout February earned him this recognition.

Gill had a stellar month, amassing 406 runs across five ODIs with an average of 101.50 and a strike rate of 94.19. His contributions were instrumental in India’s comprehensive 3-0 series victory over England. Gill’s remarkable consistency saw him score 87 in Nagpur, 60 in Cuttack, and a commanding 112 in Ahmedabad, which helped him win the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards.

He continued his superb form during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, making an unbeaten 101 against Bangladesh in India’s opening match, followed by a steady 46 against Pakistan. His consistency with the bat played a crucial role in India lifting their third Champions Trophy title in a thrilling four-wicket victory over New Zealand.

Gill reflected on the significance of his achievements, adding, “The lead-up to the Champions Trophy 2025 was very crucial, and I am glad I was able to make the most out of it. It has been a phenomenal start to the year, individually and as a team. I am looking forward to an action-packed cricketing year ahead and hope to win many more matches for India.”
