Puri: With the annual Rath Yatra approaching, the Puri district administration has launched a new mobile application — ‘Shree Jagannatha Dham’ — aimed at offering real-time updates and key information to devotees visiting the Shree Jagannath Temple.
Designed as a one-stop digital companion for pilgrims, the app provides details on daily rituals, temple schedules, queue waiting times, and preparations for major events like the Rath Yatra. It also features announcements on special occasions and is expected to evolve with additional features in upcoming updates.
“The application will help devotees plan their visit better by giving them access to timely and accurate information,” said Puri Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain, who officially introduced the app. He added that content related to rituals and major temple events is being continuously developed to enrich the user experience.
The launch of the app also comes amid heightened emotional and cultural sentiments following the naming of a newly built temple in Digha by the West Bengal government. By naming the application ‘Shree Jagannatha Dham’, the Puri administration reaffirms the city’s spiritual status as the original and revered Jagannath Dham among India’s Char Dhams.
According to officials, the app not only enhances the pilgrimage experience but also reasserts Puri’s unique religious identity. Swain shared details of the launch in a post on X (formerly Twitter), inviting devotees to download and explore the platform ahead of the festive season.
