
New Delhi: In a significant move aimed at accelerating the progress of the agriculture sector across the country, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has initiated state-wise discussions. The Union Minister convened a meeting with a high-level delegation, including Chhattisgarh Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam, at Krishi Bhavan in New Delhi.
The meeting covered a broad spectrum of topics related to agriculture and farmers’ welfare, with a particular focus on promoting pulses, oilseeds, and horticulture in Chhattisgarh. Chouhan emphasized that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the interests of farmers and the agricultural sector remain a top priority. He assured that the Central Government would continue to provide all possible assistance to Chhattisgarh.
During the discussions, Chouhan and Netam reviewed various schemes and programs of the Agriculture Ministry, including the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, and initiatives like the Namo Drone Didi and Oil Palm Mission. Chouhan assured that the central government would work closely with the state government to ensure that the farmers of Chhattisgarh do not face any issues at the central level.
The Union Minister highlighted the central government’s policy to promote pulses and oilseeds, noting the ample opportunities to boost the cultivation of maize and soybean in Chhattisgarh. He also assured that there would be an adequate supply of essential inputs such as fertilizers and seeds for the Kharif season, and directed concerned officials to ensure their timely availability.
