Lucknow: In a spectacular showcase of military prowess, the ‘Shaurya Sandhya’ military and combat display enthralled spectators at Lucknow Cantonment as part of the 76th Army Day celebrations on January 15, 2024. The event, graced by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande, and distinguished guests, showcased various martial arts displays, motorcycle stunts, and a mesmerizing performance by the North East Warriors.

The Daredevils motorcycle team of the Indian Army left the audience in awe with thrilling maneuvers, while Tent pegging & trick riding by eight horses of the Remount Veterinary Corps added to the excitement. The static display featured cutting-edge military equipment, including Akash Missiles, K9 Vajra, Anti-Drone equipment, Bofors guns, and artillery weapons systems. Twelve Indian Army personnel executed a combat free fall from 8,000 feet, and the skies lit up with displays by Su-30 MKI, Surya Kiran aerobatic team, and Advanced Light Helicopters during ‘Shaurya Sandhya.’

Addressing the gathering, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh emphasized the unique character of Indian soldiers rooted in the country’s cultural values. He identified patriotism, courage, humanity, and loyalty to the Indian constitution as their four essential qualities. Shri Rajnath Singh highlighted the Indian military’s focus on tradition while embracing innovation and modernization, acknowledging the growing role of women in the Armed Forces.

The Raksha Mantri commended the government’s decision to celebrate Army/Navy/Air Force Day outside Delhi, bringing military celebrations closer to the people. He emphasized the importance of showcasing the military’s modernization, preparedness, and commitment to inspire youth to join the Armed Forces.

Shri Rajnath Singh reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to strengthen the Armed Forces, citing financial support from the Ministry of Finance and various welfare initiatives for serving soldiers and veterans. He launched a first-day postal cover to commemorate the occasion.
