Senior IAS Officer Manoj Kumar Sahoo Appointed as Private Secretary to Odisha CM

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has appointed senior IAS officer Manoj Kumar Sahoo as the Private Secretary to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, according to a notification issued by the General Administration & Public Grievances Department today.

Sahoo, a 2006 batch IAS officer of the Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre, has been serving as the Special Secretary to the Chief Minister. The notification clarified that the role of Private Secretary to the Chief Minister has been declared equivalent in status and responsibility to that of a Special Secretary as per the IAS cadre of the state.

Sahoo brings with him a wealth of administrative experience from both the central and state governments. He was previously on inter-cadre deputation to Odisha’s Home Department and served as Deputy Election Commissioner under the Central Government. The Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet had earlier approved his deputation, recognizing his capabilities in handling complex administrative roles.

His career includes serving as Collector and District Magistrate in various regions, including West Siang, and Kurung Kumey in Arunachal Pradesh, Diu, Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman. Sahoo has been instrumental in managing administrative functions in challenging terrains, which has earned him a stellar reputation for efficiency and leadership.

Born in Singapur village under the Balikuda block of Jagatsinghpur district, Odisha, Sahoo’s appointment as the Private Secretary to the Chief Minister is seen as a significant recognition of his expertise and dedication to public service.

This new role is expected to leverage his extensive experience and strategic vision to support the Chief Minister’s office in achieving governance excellence.
