Security Tightened Ahead of Odisha Chief Minister’s Swearing-In Ceremony

Bhubaneswar: A strict multi-layer security apparatus has been established at Janata Maidan in preparation for the swearing-in ceremony of the new Odisha Chief Minister scheduled for Wednesday.

With Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several other dignitaries slated to attend, police have orchestrated elaborate security measures for the occasion.

Commissioner of Police, Sanjeeb Panda, addressing the media on Tuesday, revealed that 67 platoons of police personnel would be deployed to ensure the smooth conduct of the oath-taking ceremony.

Under the overall supervision of Inspector General of Police (Personnel) Praveen Kumar, security arrangements at Janata Maidan will be meticulously managed.

A comprehensive contingent comprising two Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs), 13 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), 18 Additional DCPs, 58 Assistant Commissioners of Police, 94 inspectors, and 312 Sub-inspector and ASI rank officers will be stationed for the mega event.

In addition, three units of the Special Tactical Unit (STU), an urban warfare counter-terrorist force, along with a team from the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), will be strategically positioned at the venue.

Heightened security measures extend to the surrounding high-rise buildings, where personnel will be deployed to ensure comprehensive surveillance. Sanitization procedures, including the deployment of dog squads and Anti-Sabotage teams, are underway to enhance security protocols.

In light of the event, vehicular movement from Jaydev Vihar Square to NALCO Square, and any connecting lanes, will be restricted from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. or until the conclusion of the function.
