
New Delhi: The Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, awarded Sarabjot a cheque for Rs 22.5 lakh as part of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports’ cash award scheme for his achievement at the Paris Olympics.
Sarabjot Singh, who earned a bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event with Manu Bhaker, was the highlight of the event. His commendable achievement was celebrated with this significant financial reward, underscoring his dedication and success on the global stage.
Dr. Mandaviya praised Sarabjot’s performance, stating, “Your achievement is a testament to your hard work and commitment. This reward reflects the nation’s pride in your success and serves as an encouragement for future excellence.”
The felicitation ceremony also honored other outstanding shooters, including Arjun Babuta, Ramita Jindal, Rhythm Sangwan, Sandeep Singh, and Arjun Singh Cheema, along with their coaches. Arjun Babuta’s near-miss podium finish was also acknowledged.
Dr. Mandaviya emphasized the role of the Khelo India program and the Target Olympic Podium Scheme in nurturing such talent. He highlighted Sarabjot’s journey from being a Khelo India scholarship athlete to achieving Olympic success as a prime example of the program’s effectiveness.
