
Paris: Indian shooter Rubina Francis clinched a bronze medal in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 event at the Paris Paralympics on Saturday, marking a significant achievement for India in the Paralympic shooting arena.
Francis, 25, secured the third position with a total score of 173.7 after delivering consistent performances in the final stages. In the fourth set of two shots during Stage 2 of the final, she scored 9.2 and 10.1, keeping her in contention among the top four shooters. In the crucial fifth set, she improved her performance with scores of 9.5 and 9.8, raising her total to 193.0 and momentarily advancing to second place, assuring India another medal in the competition.
Rubina had a challenging start in the qualification round, where she trailed behind the top eight shooters. However, demonstrating immense grit and skill, she surged towards the end of the round, securing 556 points and finishing in seventh place, enough to qualify for the final.
