RPSF Constable Shashikant Kumar Honoured with ‘Jeevan Raksha Padak’ for Heroic Act

New Delhi: In a moment of unparalleled courage and quick thinking, Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) Constable Shashikant Kumar has been bestowed with the prestigious ‘Jeevan Raksha Padak’ by the President of India Draupadi Murmu for the year 2023. The recognition comes in acknowledgment of his heroic and prompt actions that saved the life of a female railway passenger.

The incident unfolded on June 8, 2023, at Prayagraj Chheoki Railway Station, where Shashikant Kumar exhibited exceptional bravery. A female passenger, attempting to deboard from a moving train, slipped and fell into the dangerous gap between the train and the platform, perilously close to the running train’s wheels. Shashikant Kumar, with unwavering determination, acted swiftly to prevent a potentially fatal accident.

Putting his own safety at risk, Kumar’s decisive intervention ensured the distressed passenger’s life was spared. His immediate and selfless response showcased a dedication to protecting the lives of railway passengers, reflecting the highest ideals of service and commitment to duty upheld by the Railway Protection Special Force.

The ‘Jeevan Raksha Padak’ is a testament to Constable Shashikant Kumar’s exemplary courage and unwavering commitment to public safety.
